冰雪皇后 - 蓝冰洞团

2 hours and 30 minutes

Crystal Ice Cave

Trip difficulty: 2/5, easy.

Tour Highlights: Small Group Experience, Jokulsarlon Ice Cave, Vatnajökull - Europe's Largest Glacier, Ride in a Super Truck to the Glacier

In autumn each year ice caves begin to take shape and last throughout the winter. Caves can be found in several different locations on the south side of Vatnajökull. These trips are somewhat temperature dependent as Ice-caves must be treated with the utmost respect in regards to the ceiling being supportive along with other factors that your specialized guide evaluates constantly. You will have the chance to visit one of them during this trip and to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Please note that you must arrange your transportation to the meeting point which is 5 hours east of Reykjavik.  The bus schedule during the winter is very limited and will not get you to the meeting point so it is highly recommended to rent a car.  Please bring warm layers and good hiking boots or shoes (sometimes the ground can be muddy and sometimes we may be required to wear crampons -spikes for the ice).

If you are looking for other options that include glacier exploration (focused on a glacier walk vs. photographing an ice cave)  during the winter please check out the Blue Ice tour or Glaciers & Waterfalls which both include transportation to and from Reykjavik.

Meeting point: The Jokulsarlon Ice Cave tour departs from Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon which is located 379km from Reykjavik which means, at least, 4.5 hours drive from Reykjavik in best conditions. Staying close to the glacier lagoon for one night, either before or after you visit the ice cave is therefore not a bad idea. Please make sure to follow weather and road conditions before you take off – the weather can be very different just out of the city.
